Puyang Zhongshi Group Co., Ltd., an oilfield equipment manufacturer restructured from SINOPEC in 1997, has released an upgraded series of wire wrapped screens engineered for sand control in cased and open hole completions. With more than 20 years of petroleum machinery manufacturing experience, 570 to 600 employees and 80% to 90% of output shipped to overseas markets, the company is positioning the new series as a cost-efficient alternative to imported premium mesh screens.
A wire wrapped screen, also known as a wedge wire screen, is built from a V-shaped stainless steel wire continuously welded onto longitudinal support rods, which are in turn wrapped around a perforated base pipe. The V-shaped profile creates a self-cleaning slot that widens inward, so formation sand that passes the opening is flushed back instead of plugging the screen. Compared with wire mesh or slotted liner alternatives, the welded wedge wire structure keeps slot tolerances stable under high drawdown and delivers a much larger open flow area.
| Parameter | Standard Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Screen outside diameter | 2 3/8" – 20" | Custom sizes on request |
| Slot opening | 0.05 mm – 5 mm | Tolerance ±0.02 mm |
| Base pipe | API 5CT J55 / K55 / N80 / L80 | Perforated or slotted |
| Wire material | 304 / 316L / 321 / duplex SS | Matched to well chemistry |
| Screen length | Up to 12 m | Single or coupled joints |
| End connection | API thread, NPT, welded flange | Project specific |
| Working temperature | Up to 350 °C | Depends on material grade |
The new series is suited to vertical, deviated and horizontal wells where formation sand production threatens pump life and surface equipment. Typical duties include:
Wire wrapping, welding and slot inspection are carried out in house. Each screen is dimensionally checked, pressure tested and slot-gauged before shipment, and the production line is operated under API and ISO quality management practice. Because the company also manufactures sucker rod pumps, pump barrels, plungers, valve balls and seats, customers can consolidate sand control screens and artificial lift components in a single order and a single container.
Standard sizes are available for quotation with short lead times, and engineered screens are built to drawing. The export team supports third-party inspection, mill test certificates and export packaging for sea freight. Overseas buyers are invited to send well conditions, slot requirements and completion drawings for a technical proposal and price schedule.
